7 out of 10 Indians suffer from vitamin D deficiency

More than 7 out of 10 people in India are deficient in the sunshine vitamin or vitamin D. Analysis of data from over 10 lakh Indian users at eKincare.com have shown that more than 75% are vitamin D deficient.
This deficiency breaks all barriers of age, socioeconomic status, gender and geographic strata!  It is omnipresent and is touted to be responsible for high prevalence of rickets, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and infections such as tuberculosis in India.

Experts are surprised as to why a country like India with plenty sunshine has so many individuals suffering from this deficiency. Well, the irony of the situation is that although sunshine is available to us in abundance , we are not making ourselves available to the sun!
